Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max (China Global version)

The HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro Max is designed for users who expect more from a flagship smartphone. It delivers a premium combination of performance, durability, camera quality, outdoor-ready features, and intelligent software, making it one of Huawei’s most advanced Mate series phones. Huawei positions it as a high-end flagship with a full-metal design, second-generation Kunlun Glass, second-generation Red Maple imaging, and HarmonyOS 6 out of the box. 

At the front, the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display with FHD+ 2848 × 1320 resolution, 1–120 Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and support for 1.07 billion colors with P3 wide color gamut. Huawei also highlights peak brightness up to 8000 nits, giving the device excellent outdoor visibility in very bright conditions. This makes it ideal for streaming, gaming, photography preview, navigation, and daily use under direct sunlight. 

Performance is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chip paired with HarmonyOS 6. Huawei states that overall device performance is improved by up to 42% compared with the referenced previous-generation test device in its internal testing. The Mate 80 Pro Max comes with 16 GB RAM and is available with 512 GB or 1 TB storage, giving users plenty of power for multitasking, media, photography, and demanding apps. 

Photography is a major highlight. The phone uses Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple color imaging system and a quad rear camera setup that includes a 50 MP ultra-high dynamic main camera, a 50 MP ultra-lighting macro telephoto camera, a 50 MP ultra telephoto camera, and a 40 MP ultra-wide camera. Huawei also promotes improved video performance, a new ninth-generation ISP, 17.5 EV ultra-high dynamic range, full-focal-length 1080p 960 fps slow motion, and dual optical telephoto focal lengths at 4x and 6.2x. On the front, it includes a 13 MP ultra-wide selfie camera plus a 3D depth camera. 

Durability is another strong selling point. Huawei says the Mate 80 Pro Max uses a full-metal Basalt architecture, second-generation Kunlun Glass, and improved structural strength. The phone is rated IP68 for water resistance up to 6 meters under Huawei’s specified lab conditions and IP69 for resistance to high-temperature, high-pressure water spray. Huawei also claims improvements in drop resistance, bending resistance, and scratch resistance compared with its referenced earlier devices. 

Battery life is built for heavy users and outdoor scenarios. The HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro Max packs a 6000 mAh typical battery with 100W wired Huawei SuperCharge and up to 80W wireless Huawei SuperCharge support when used with compatible Huawei chargers and accessories. Huawei also advertises an outdoor exploration mode with up to 14 days of extreme battery life in a specific emergency-use scenario, as well as up to 36 hours of screen-off track navigation in its stated test model.
